A Look At – Building The LX026-OO Laser Cut Park Foot Bridge Kit

Lets get started….

So as is now customary for this series of articles the tools & glue that’ll you’ll need are as seen on the right:

• Cutting mat
• Craft knife with fresh sharp blades
• Roket card glue by Deluxe Materials or similar
• Steel rule or straight edge for cutting against
• Sanding stick
• Old cloth for wiping away excess glue
• Tweezers
• Acrylic paint (colour of your choice)

Familiarize your self with the parts on the kit parts sheet.

We’ll start with the bridge deck frames. First cut & remove the pieces marked with the orange ‘X’. Discard the cut pieces in the recycling bin.

Now cut & carefully remove the three pieces from the kit parts sheet. Any pips sand them flush.

Glue on one side of the base frame as seen on the right. Carefully place one of the second frames on to the glued frame making sure all sides are flush. Repeat by gluing along the second frame & carefully place the third frame on to the other two to form a stack of three.

Next cut out & remove the bridge main deck. Carefully sand flush any pips on the deck sides.

Now place a bead of glue on the top side of the frame as shown. Place the bridge decking on to the frame with the engraved planks side facing upwards. Make sure the frame is placed centrally on to the rear of the decking as shown on the right. Ensure there is a equal overlap as shown on the right.

We now turn our attention to the side railings. Carefully cut out the waste pieces marked with the orange ‘X’ & discard into the recycling bin. Cut & remove the two side railing pieces. Sand flush any pips on the part edges.

Cut out the side post pieces. Sand flush any pips on the part sides.

Glue each post on one side as shown on the right on each vertical. Five pieces for each of the two side railings.

Add a small blob of glue below each recess as shown on the right on the side of the bridge deck.

Place the bridge deck on to side railing as shown. Make sure the posts that you fitted earlier are on the outside of the bridge.

Repeat the process on the other side. Again be sure to put the side with the posts on facing outwards.

Now cut & remove the two end deck pieces making sure that any pips are sanded flush on the part edges.

Next glue along the end of the bridge deck & attach one of the end deck pieces. Make sure that you keep the planking the same way as the bridge deck. Repeat the process at the other end as shown on the right.

Cut & remove the top two handrails highlighted in orange on the right from the kit parts sheet.

Add a small amount of glue on the top of each post as shown on the right.

Carefully place the top rail on top of the side posts. Make sure the top rail ends are level with the bridge main deck ends.

All that is left to do now is to paint the bridge into your chosen colours using artist acrylics or leave unpainted for a weathered wood look.
