Airfix 20 ton Brake Van Kit in S & T livery

My latest incarnation of the venerable Airfix 20 Ton Brake Van Kit. Finished in S & T Department Livery as in a photo from Paul Bartletts fantastic website. 

Romford wheels and Shankless bearings have been used but please take note the axle boxes require drilling practically right the way through to take the bearings with enough clearance to fit the wheels.

For the livery the wagon body was given a light pass of Humbrol Signal Yellow before the yellow stripe was masked off and the body brush painted with 2 thin coats of Humbrol Matt 60 Scarlet, this being the closest match i had in stock.

The under frame and chassis was sprayed Matt Black.

Finally the roof was sprayed from a cheap aerosol of Grey Primer and Lamp Irons and Hand Rails picked out in white.

Transfers for S & T vehicles seem to be pretty much none existant from suppliers and since I am planning a full rake of open wagons in this livery I am either going to have to commission some or print my own.
