Scale Model Scenery Kit Builds Guides
AX142-OO Round Pre-Cast Concrete Litter Bins (Pack of 5) – OO/4mm/1:76
In this Scale Model Scenery Kits Build Guide, we take a look at another of our recently released kits/items, AX142-OO Round Pre-Cast Concrete Litter Bins for OO scale. This 3D printed kit comes supplied with the bins in two parts. The top sections & the lower sections. The kit is suitable for a quick modelling session, with it being a very quick build. It can be used as is unpainted or paint in suitable colours to suit your layout.
The kit comes supplied in our standard bio-degradable cellophane packets (ideal for use as clear glazing for model windows). These 3D printed kit parts are supplied on the 3D printed raft bed. The bin parts are easily removed from the print raft bed by carefully sliding a flat blade between the 3D printed parts & raft bed.
We’ll be painting the bins, so if painting, leave the bin parts on the raft bed for the time being.
The parts may have some excess print flash bits on them. These can be easily removed by either scraping the flash away with a sharp knife or of small file.

Once any excess printing flash has been removed, give the bin parts an even coat of primer paint. We’ve used an aerosol spray can type primer paint from the Range department store, arts & crafts department.

Once the primer paint has dried, carefully remove the kit bin parts from the raft bed using a flat blade carefully inserted between the part & raft bed, & prise the part off the raft bed.
Apply a thin even bead of glue such as super phatic glue, or plastic kit glue, around the bottom ring of the bin top section. As shown in the photo opposite right.
Then carefully stick into place on the open top of the taller bottom section of the bin. Make sure the bin top sits flush & square with the bin bottom section. The two small raised ridges on the bin are the bin feet/base.
Glue & assemble the rest of the bins. Once the glue has dried, paint in a suitable colour to suit your layout. Use the likes of acrylics or enamel paints of your choice & allow time to dry.
Once dry, the bins are ready for installing on your layout.
The bins can be glued into place on your layout or if you want to put them temporarily into position, use Deluxe Materials Tacky Wax. Tacky Wax is ideal for holding model figures & layout accessories in place on your layout, but allows you to remove them & reposition refix elsewhere around your layout whenever you wish. Tacky Wax can be found here on our website:
