
Bachmann 32-979U Class 66 721 Harry Beck – London Transport Museum

A new limited edition class 66 (66 721) model released around 2013 of a one off livery by Bachmann especially commissioned by the London Transport Museum. This model is one of two limited edition class 66 models commissioned by London Transport Museum. The livery of the model featured in this article is GBRF’s ‘Harry Beck’ London Underground Map livery. Which marks the 150th anniversary of the London Underground railway & celebrates GB Railfreight’s partnership with London Transport Museum. This Class 66 locomotive model carries the famous underground map on a white background and named is after Harry Beck, the designer of the 1930’s diagrammatic Tube map.
The model was a limited edition run. The model comes with Brass etched nameplates for fitting by the modeller. Also a bag of detailed parts for the buffer beam are included.
The model has working head / tail & cab interior lighting. The rear lights can be switched out via a switch located on the underside of the loco.
Model comes as 21 pin DCC Ready ( Ready to be converted to DCC by removing the blanking plug from the DCC socket & plugging in a DCC 21 pin decoder) & is set up to take a DCC sound speaker. A speaker mount for a speaker is included already fitted with in the loco. On the PCB board is two terminals for connecting two speaker wires to.
Model has a five pole motor with with twin flywheels, all wheel drive & all wheel power pick ups. Couplings are the small removable tension lock NEM type. Buffers are sprung.
Other features include fine detailed parts, brass etched grills, separate handrails, lamp brackets, flush glazing, windscreen wipers, under chassis details, cab interior details including driver figure, fine profile wheels. Adiecast chassis giving good traction so no traction tires are needed.
The model comes in plastic ice style packaging with Bachmann’s usual box sleeve arrangement.
