Bachmann MEA 45t Open Mineral Wagon – OO Scale

The MEA wagon was the result of redundant HEA hopper wagon chassis being rebuilt with a box steel body being fitted to the HEA wagon chassis. They were re-coded as MEA on the BR Tops system. Originally ordered by Railfreight, the MEA’s were then divided up between Mainline, Loadhaul & Transrail. More batches of the MEA being ordered by Loadhaul & Mainline, eventually EWS inherited the MEA wagon fleet.
Bachmann released the MEA wagon back in 1995 but upgraded the model in 2004 to their Blue Ribbon Standard. Model features NEM sockets & small style tension lock couplers, diecast chassis & fine scale wheels. Some weathered versions have also been released as well. 2005 models onwards have the upgraded chassis.
