Hornby, Peco & Kato Set track, Which is better? New or OLD?

For our final video, this weekend, we join James of James DEMU for a look at Set Track model railway track. Many of us started out with some form of set track when first taking up this wonderful hobby. James takes a look at current & also older offerings of set track, track systems. As James says in this video, which do you think is best? The current day offerings or the older track systems? Over to James.

I agree with you James, the old System 6 does look so much better! I wonder why current 00 gauge manufacturers favour the current “webbing” design for joining setrack? In fairness, some of the look can be improved with careful painting and ballasting and we should also bear in mind that setrack is/was, for many (me included), the entry point for railway modelling at a reasonable cost. Nonetheless it is strange that the current design seems to be a backward step. I’m guessing that System 6 goes back quite a few years.
