Dapol Telescopic Hood Wagon
Dapol KIA (VTG) Telescopic Hood Steel Wagon
Released by Dapol around 2009, this OO scale model is another essential modern image wagon for anyone modelling today’s railway. These KIA (VTG) wagons built for carrying steel loads, features a three-piece sliding telescopic hood to protect its steel coil load. Entering service in the 1980s onwards.
The model features a fine detailed & moulded body, NEM coupling pocket sockets with small type NEM tension lock couplings. The wheels are of the fine-scale profile type. The body has fine printed details & a good level of detail. The hood can be manually slid back to reveal a number of steel coils that can be removed if desired. Other details include separate handrails, tide down points, handbrake wheels & nonworking door catch, leaver. In long term testing on my own layout, I’ve found these wagons to be excellent dependable runners.
