FLEETWELL – PART 2

FLEETWELL – PART 2

The decision to retire was made back in August 2018 and when the build of my model railway became a reality I started buying the monthly magazines and trawling the internet gathering lots and lots of info. I visited the rail forums, online stores and watched numerous YouTube videos.

Having determined the space available I downloaded a copy of SCARM which I soon upgraded to the full package after receiving a special offer. I spent many hours designing layouts until I decided which one I wanted. The layout has 4 loops on 3 levels, I colour coded the tracks to identify the levels, inclines and declines:

This is the view as you enter the garage. I’ve had an interest in container ships and freight for many years and wanted to include a dockside, ship and container terminal on the layout.

The framework is made up of 800x400mm and 800x300mm modules with the rear and both sides being 700mm deep so I can comfortably reach over and as I have access from both sides at the front it’s 800mm wide. When the framework was finished I drilled plenty of holes in the bracing and fed the bus-wire through before fixing the 9mm WBP ply baseboards. I’m modelling 00 gauge, DCC – purchased the NCE Powercab system and modern / diesel era. The layout is a purely fictional location.
