Hornby MFA Coalfish Wagon

One of Hornby’s few higher spec modern image wagon models. With the HAA airbrake wagons becoming surplus due to being replaced by the larger HHA bogie coal hopper wagons, a need for more air braked engineers was identified. Around 125 MGR wagons were converted into MFA wagons at Wabtec in Doncaster at the famous Plant Works. The conversion work involved te origina wagon bodies being removed & replaced with low sided boxes.

Hornby released their first batch of this all new super detailed wagon model in 2003. However, after release it was quickly spotted that there was an error with the model wagon body. Hornby quickly reworked & corrected the model & the re-release version followed around 2004 – 2006. The incorrect version can be easily spotted by the wider white steps, the correct version having the narrower white steps & reduced in height more accurate body with additional end ribs.

The model has been available in both single & multi wagon packs including weathered versions. The model features a diecast chassis, sprung buffers, fine printed details, fine scale wheels & under chassis details. Weathered versions also available.
