Hornby VIX/ZSK Ferry Van – OO Scale

Hornby’s model of 1960’s designed ferry van for international rail traffic. The real ferry vans where later used for domestic traffic as well. Hornby introduced this model to it’s range back in 1970. The model now is showing its age but can be enhanced with some super detailing by the modeller. When first released, the model had a rubber band underneath to link both bogies under tension. This was replaced around 1978 with the bogies having long plastic projections running hoops to help self center the bogies.
The model has sliding opening doors on both sides, as well as reasonable moulded details like the tie-down points on the lower body sides. The model has metal wheels, but some earlier versions had plastic wheels. The model has the larger tension lock coupling. Liveries include private user such as Ford, Fyffes, Interfrigo, & Transfesa. BR liveries include BR brown, BR Railfreight grey, BR Railfreight International, BR maroon & also weathered with graffitti too! In 2008 Hornby issue this wagon in Blue with Hornby 2008 to mark 70 years.
