Great idea and a really simple and cost-effective technique. Definitely worth doing.

Lukes APS did something similar a while ago but he used a Greenstuff roller which was excellent.
Yes, I remember that one now you mention it, will have a look again for it.

http://www.greenstuffworld.com for textured rolling pins about 150mm in length. don’t come cheap but if working with DAS clay or similar are very useful. Just check out the individual stone/brick sizes to suit respective scales.
Certainly speed up modelling the cobble sets. Good stuff.
