How To Model Muddy Rivers Using Resin

How to model muddy rivers using resin

This week we are looking at muddy rivers or canals because they are one of the simplest forms of resin rivers. You don’t need to worry about a river bed or any detailed modelling as the resin does it all for you. I based my river on a few I saw on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad just near Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Tools and Materials All of these materials are commonly available in either a DIY store or art shop. Online shops will also carry them.

  • Epoxy Resin – Magic Water or Envirotex Lite (Aqua Magic will also work)
  • Acrylic Paint – river coloured
  • Mixing cup and stirrer
  • Gloss Medium – a thick gel used by artists. Available online or in shops such as Hobbycraft.
  • Gloss Varnish – I use Vallejo in this episode because it is easy to drip but you can use any acrylic gloss varnish
  • Foam Board
  • Cling Film
  • Silicone Sealant
