Kernow Models SPA/ZAA Wagon

The SPA/ZAA open plate wagon produced by the now defunct DJ Models company for Kernow Models. The SPA’s were built at Shildon works in 1979-1980 with a second batch being built between 1980 to 1981. These carried the tops code SPA. typical loads for these wagons being steel coil, steel rod, pig iron. Later on around 1983 there was a surplus of SPA wagons, so around 330 of them found themselves transferred to the engineers department. Here they gained a change of tops code to ZAA & with the tradition of naming departmental wagons as fish types, had the name PIKE being allocated to them.

In partnership with DJ Models, four versions in EWS livery, four versions Dutch Civil Eng livery & four versions of BR Railfreight have been produced in both SPA & ZAA types. The wagons feature a removable steel cradle. These wagons have very fine details, small NEM tension lock couplings & NEM coupling pocket.  The model also features fine scale profile wheels & fine printed details. Both pristine & weathered versions have been released.
