Modelling Tip Of The Day – 18
This Modelling Tip Of The Day is an ongoing series, in which we’ll be posting a modelling tip that may be of use to the newbie right up to the seasoned modeller.
Today’s tip is:
Track Planning Full Size
When working out track plans on paper to the full size, use lining wallpaper to draw out your full-scale track plan on. Peco does download & print off track templates to the same size as the model track. These can be downloaded from here:
https://www.peco-uk.com/page.asp?id=pointplans
On the link above you choose what scale track you are using, then select which size track, Code 100, Code 75 etc (we’ll cover that in another tip of the day shortly). Then choose the pointwork / Switchwork for your track plan. Then download the point/switch template, set your printer to 100% to print off to the actual same size track piece.
Using these paper track templates allow you to try various track layouts before actually buying any pointwork. Thus saving time & money over buying point work that may not be suitable for your track plan.
