The Kit Contents

The kit comes supplied as many of our kits do, in a clear plastic wallet. The kit comes supplied with instructions & laser cut part sheets. The photos right & below show the kit contents.

The Kit Assembly

As with all kits, take your time to read through the instructions to familiarise yourself with the kit parts, kit contents map. Start by cutting free from the parts sheet, parts A & B. Use a craft knife with a new sharp blade.

Lightly sand flush any pips on the part edges.

Now insert part B into Part A making sure the highlighted tab & slots fit into each other.

Use our SX002 corner jig tool to keep both parts aligned at 90 degrees to each other. Run a bead of Roket Card glue or Super Phatic glue along the inside of the joint, as shown in the photo opposite right.

Next, cut & remove part C from the parts sheet. Lightly sand flush any pips on the part edges.

Place part C on to the glued parts A & B. Make sure that all the tabs/slots (highlighted in orange) are properly inserted into each other. Apply as before, a bead of glue along the inside joints as shown in the photo right.

Cut & remove part D from the parts sheet. Light sand flush any pips on the part edges.

Again, make sure all the tab & slots fully engage (highlighted in the photo opposite with the orange circles). Glue along the joints as shown in the photo opposite right. The doorway needs to go to the left-hand side.

Cut & remove part F from the parts sheet. Lightly sand flush any pips from the edges of the parts.

Insert part F on to the assembly, making sure that all tabs & slots are fully engaged, highlighted by the orange circles. Apply glue as before along the joints on the inside of the assembly. The open doorway needs to go left-hand side when viewed from the outside.

Now, cut & remove part E from the parts sheet. Lightly sand flush any pips on the sides of the parts.

Apply a small amount of glue on each of the sticking out tabs on part E. Insert part E as shown in the photo right, making sure all tabs & slots engage. Then using Roket Card glue or Super Phatic glue with a fine tip applicator (supplied with the bottles of glue), glue the inside of the joints of part E through the open doorways to gain access to the inside.

This completes the assembly of the core. We’ll now move on to adding the other detailed parts of this kit.

Cut & remove part G from the parts sheet. Lightly sand flush any pips on the parts side.

Apply glue to the underside of part G (the non-laser engraved side) & stick into place on the top of the core base as shown in the photo opposite right. Make sure that all edges are true square & flush. The tabs will overhang the sides of the core.

Now cut & remove part I from the parts sheet. Lightly sand flush any pips from the part edges.

Apply glue to the rear non-laser engraved side & place part I on to the side of the core as shown in the first photo opposite right.

Make sure the tab & slots all engage as shown & highlighted in the second photo opposite right.

Now cut & remove part J from the parts sheet, lightly sand flush any pips from the edges of the part.

Next, apply glue on the non-laser engraved side of part J. Stick part J onto the end wall without the open doorway. Make sure all the tabs & slots are fully engaged, as highlighted in the photo right. Again, make sure part J sits square & true.

Cut & remove part K from the parts sheet. Lightly sand flush any pips from the edges of the part.

The door on part K (and also part I) can be cut & removed, then glued into an open position. Here we are going to leave the door in the closed position.

Apply glue to the rear non-laser engraved side of part K, & stick into position. Make sure as before, all tabs & slots fully engage.

Next cut & remove the three base sections from the parts sheet, L, M, N. Lightly sand flush any pips on the edges of these three parts.

Glue the three base sections L, M, & N on to the base underside as shown in the photo opposite right.

Cut & remove the four part O pieces. Lightly sand flush any pips from the edges of the parts.

Glue the four part O pieces, into two stacks of two. Make sure that all sides/edges align up.

Then glue the now two stacks of two part O on to the base of the container as shown in the second photo opposite.

Now cut out the two sets of steps Part Q from the parts sheet. Lightly sand any pips from the edges of the parts.

Glue two small narrow part Q’s on top of each other to a stack of two, then repeat with two wider part Q’s.

Now glue the smaller narrow stack onto the top of the wider stack as shown in the photo right. Repeat the process with the remaining two stacks to create a second set of steps.

Next cut & remove two of the door handles from the parts sheet if modelling the doors closed. If modelling the doors open, then cut & remove all four door handles.

Glue the steps & door handles into position, as shown in the two photos opposite right.

If modelling the doors open, then glue & fit the remaining two door handles to the insides of the door (as per the real thing).

That concludes the build of this kit.

Painting

To Paint the kit, give the kit a coating of primer spray can paint or similar. We’ve used a grey primer by Plastikote. Once dry, spray paint with the colour of your choice. Here we’ve used a Red Acrylic spray can paint from Humbrol for painting the roof & four sides. We’ve left the base in the grey primer colour. For the steps & timber base packing strips, we’ve brush painted in an acrylic brown colour from Humbrol. For the door handles, we’ve brush painted in silver acrylic paint from Revell.

This completes the build & paint of this kit.

Happy modelling.
