Modelling Tip Of The Day – 68
This Modelling Tip Of The Day is an ongoing series, in which we’ll be posting a modelling tip that may be of use to the newbie right up to the seasoned modeller. Today’s tip is:
Mix & Twist!
When modelling scenery, mix it up & add more scenic interest. For example, when modelling grass, add flowers or colour scatter on to the grass to represent flowers, fix in place with hairspray or scenic glue. This adds a nice scenic twist to grass areas. Another example as seen in the photos is when modelling a river scene, add reeds & weeds along the river edge. Modelling a gritty urban scene? Add litter from our litter texture sheet, sometimes you see plastic bags caught up in a tree or on a fence. Use one or two plastic bags from the litter sheet, scrunch up after cutting out from the sheet & glue into place on to a fence etc.
With the grasses, add areas of patchy dead grass or even a burnt section of grass where someone has had a fire going. Adding little details like these make the scene more realistic & adds plenty of viewing interest. This is simple & fun to do so get creative & enjoy adding these scenic twists to your layout.
Those little details make all the difference.
Really great tips, I have tried some samples and worked out pretty good.
