This Modelling Tip Of The Day is an ongoing series, in which we’ll be posting a modelling tip that may be of use to the newbie right up to the seasoned modeller. Today’s tip is:
Practice practice practice…
It’s worth practicing & trying out new modelling methods & techniques before putting into practice on your main layout. Use a small diorama baseboard or just an offcut of baseboard material to practice on & fine tune your modelling. It’s the perfect way to create a scenic photographic backdrop to photograph your models on too! So as the old saying goes practice makes perfect.
The likes of BRM magazine run a cakebox modelling challenge, where participants have to create a small diorama on a small baseboard that will fit into an actual cakebox. Great fun to do, & amazing just how much detail can be packed into a small diorama.
