Modelling Tip Of The Day – 76
This Modelling Tip Of The Day is an ongoing series, in which we’ll be posting a modelling tip that may be of use to the newbie right up to the seasoned modeller. Today’s tip is:
Safety First
Even though the model railway hobby is classed as a safe hobby, there is still a number of risks that can be encountered. Using power tools, soldering irons, electrics, sharp craft knives, paint fumes etc, safety practices must be followed to prevent injury. Always use correct PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), such as safety glasses when using power tools, correct type facemasks & appropriate ventilation when using paints & solvents.
Hot soldering irons use a proper stand to hold the hot soldering iron & make sure fully cooled down before changing/replacing the iron tip. Don’t cut corners when using electrics, use a mains transformer.
When cutting using craft knives, take care when changing blades & whilst cutting. Always use a cutting mat.
Great advice, hints and tips especially the ones on safety.
