Modelling Tip Of The Day – 84

This Modelling Tip Of The Day is an ongoing series, in which we’ll be posting a modelling tip that may be of use to the newbie right up to the seasoned modeller. Today’s tip is:

Fitting rail joiners on flexible track

Fitting rail joiners on flexi track/flexible track, cut the chairs from the end sleeper that hold the rail. Use a craft knife to cut away the chairs to create a gap between the sleeper & the underside of the rail. This will allow you to insert the rail joiner on to the end of the flexi track. This keeps the joint between the ends of the flexi track looking neat & tidy.

Alternatively, cut the end sleeper & remove from the rails. Insert the rail joiner & connect the flexi track up to the next section of track. Once the track has been pinned/glued down, with the sleeper(s) you cut & removed earlier, cut away the rail chairs. Then slide the sleeper under the rails to fill in the gap under the joint between the two sections of track. This will hide the gap of sleepers you some times see on modellers layouts.
